Carnets in South America

I am planning a trip leaving next September to go from Equador, Peru, Bolivia, Chile, Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay then home from Brazil.

If anyone can give me advice on whether I need a Carnet for this trip because I'm getting a lot of conflicting advice.

Hi Snub,
I am in Ecuador right now and you don't need a carnet for South America.
Officially, Ecuador still requires it by law but you can get round this at customs with a letter. A customs agent can write this letter for you if necessary.
Good luck.
