Talking carnet for usa?

g'day all,

i am still busily sorting out the many details involved in going from oz to the usa and altho i have read and re-read this site...and most of the entire web it sometimes seems, i just want to confirm so i don't make a mistake with budgeting..... a carnet is not required to enter the usa?

i can take my bike and travel freely without leaving a deposit or sorting carnet paperwork out prior to trip

yes??

thanx people

jennifer

To the best of my knowledge a carnet is not required to enter the US. I was not asked for one when my bike cleared customs as I entered at Boston from Europe, although of course the bike was already registered in the US and my experience may not be applicable to your situation. I've never heard of a carnet being required, but I could be wrong and it might be wise to research the US Customs website and be sure.

Sorry to be indefinite but, as you said in your post, it certainly is a good idea to be absolutely certain on a matter like a carnet.

No carnet

Hi Jennifer,

You will not need a carnet for the USA or Canada.

If you are feeling a little more adventurous: You won´t need a carnet for Central and South America either

Have fun!

Dirk

A "carnet" in the USA is a thing you put over your car to keep mosquitos out.
