Cameroon or Congo TO Angola or Namibia

My first post to HUBB.

3 years on the road now.

I want to circumnavigate DRC, so would like any info on methods to send bike from Cameroon or Congo (peoples rep.) to either Angola or Namibia.

Cheers

Timoto

That could be a tough one... Africa moves in a different way as is and if you throw a war-torn nation into the mix you're gearing up for a big risk.
Reliable methods of transport have preoven to be rail and sea. Namibia is pretty stable and we have a fairly decent transport infastructure so I would advise you send it here.
Good luck and feel free to ask if you have any questions you think I might be able to assist you with.

welcome to the hubb

hello timoto,

welcome to the hubb.

you dont have to go thru the DRC to follow the west coast, just go do down to Cabinda and than take the ferrry to Soyo.

Do a search on the hubb and you will find some posts from people who have done it, getting the visa for Angola seems to be the problem at the moment, but if you are three years on the road you will manage this.

try Douala if you want to ship the bike down, just my idea because I got lost once in the big port trying to find my way into town.

enjoy

greetings

Hi And welcome to the HUBB.
PD Nam is right Namibia is stable and civalised.
I know some Portugese people who live in Northern Namibia in a town called Oshikati, they are good people who know Angola well, if you think they can be of any use let me know.
If you find yourself in Windheok, dont leave without paying a visit to Joes Beer house, its a great place.
Also ( and I know I'm going off the thread before someone screams at me) if you get a chance go down to Swakubmud on the coast where you can rent a quad and ride the Dunes...... great fun.

good luck

Congo & Congo

From quick crossing through both Congos (usual western route) I got impression that DRC is more friendly and safer than smaller Congo.

DRC is ok

I would agree with the previous comment. I just went through Congo, DRC and Angola aboout 2 months ago via Brazzaville/Kinshasha and Matadi. DRC was ok. Congo was not very pleasant, Angola was great.
Cheers,
Lois
