Bikes, UK to Sydney

We are looking at shipping our bikes back home to Sydney from the U.K. around the end of October this year. If we can get enough people to share a container, it will probably be the cheapest way of doing it. Please reply if you are interested.
Regards,
Chris.

The elusive Bob Lamacchia

Hi Chris,

I also tried to contact him last year by all means published. He never answered any of the messages I left on his landline. The mobile number was always out of service and the emails bounced.

I also checked the Darwin white pages and could not find any trace of him.

If it's just your bikes that are causing a problem, Perkins can easily ship them for you. They sail about three times per month and the cost (if I recall) is under AUD$200.

As to your good self, that is another story. You can't travel on the Perkins freighter (I've already asked), and there's nobody else that I can flush out who provides the service.

I have also tried to contact the Darwin yatch club to pay for passage, but nobody there even acknowledged my emails. It must be a Darwin thing. I have been registed on a web site for 6 months to act as a paying volunteer crew for anybody who is making the journey in the right timeframe, but nill responses.

Last time I checked it was posisble to fly on Air North for AUD$170 if you book far enough ahead. I would take any option ahead of flying, but it seems there isn't one.

Sorry for the discouraging news

Colin

I don't understand Bob's reply. We want to Ship our bikes home to Sydney from the U.K. after the Russian and "Stan" legs of our trip. If anyone is interested in sharing a 20' container, we have 2, possibly 4 bikes already.
Thanks.
