Seeking Leads: Hamburg - Uruguay consolidated. CHEAP!

Hi I have purchased a vintage BMW R80ST and it is a keeper.
So I would like to ship it back to South America.
Now, I have learned by experience to avoid landing in Argentina at all costs.
I have done the Brazil number by Ro-Ro and it is a bit of a pain in the butt, so I would like to try Uruguay by box, consolidated cargo.
Now, if I google some keyboards the results are mind boggling. Lotsa bullshit for outrageous quotes, so I aim in here to separate the wheat from the chaff.
I have a Ro-Ro quote for USD $1600. That is an outrage. So evidently above that a no go.
I aim to ship consolidated for USD $700. I can do my box and papers, put as much time and effort as I would be allowed and are capable of doing.
Does anyone know companies here in Hamburg or Europe to deal with? Specialized motocycle transporters are by nature expensive! They will take a standard shipping quote and make a 100% profit on it. I intend to skip the middlemen.
I am prepared to travel.
This will be my fourth shipment of a motorcycle, I have done it twice by sea and once by air, so I know the basics, can do the paper and the work and also know the prices involved. It is tapping with the people that are geared to do the specific shipment that is the hard part, everyone wants a piece of your dollars and putting a bike on a box and sending it places is no real mystery.
Look forward to replies, hopefully with revealing info.
Thanks all.

wow, shipping consolidated from China to UK is cheap for my work.

We pay £30 per cubic metre from China to UK on consolidated.

£150 for 4.3 m3. My bike in a crate (2mx0.5x1.6) is only 1.6 cubic meters.

However its all the other fees that are a killer:

UK import terminal handling: £172
Delivery out of container into port £40
Customs Entry £35
Department of Trade and Industry computer fee £10.75
Her Majesty's Customs fee £7.75
Duty/VAT Disbursement fee: £15.
VAT on value of goods (dunno if this would apply to a second hand motorbike) 20% of goods value.

Hope this helps to anyone importing consolidated into UK.

Maybe i'm in the wrong job!

I'll get a quote from the same company to get my bike from UK to Oz.

Hi
Did you reach a conclusion on this shipment ?
I ask because I go to South America in February and would like to bring my own bike with me.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
