Bike on train from Vladivostock to Europe
 

Hi,

I,m planning a trip from the Netherlands to Vladivostock in 2007. What is the easiest way to get my bike and myselve back to Europe. Is it possible to load everything on the train or is shipping by boat the best. Going to Japan only for shipping back to Europe seems to be long-winded.

its a nice trip you will ride but perhaps it would be less difficult to transport your bike from another country (korea or japan) back to europe.

we just transport our two bikes from ulan-ude to khabarovsk and it was more than a nice story (more details at our webseite in the report section or link http://www.kalimera-design.de/PostNu...article&sid=89 )

in russia there is nothing impossible but sometimes difficult to reach or expensive!
But what about taking your bike to moskow by train and riding the rest on you own? Transport from Vladi to Moscow should not be as difficult as international transport.
Just ask bikers in Vladi if you need help! They are great guys!

Novosibirsk to Moscow - no problems??
 

I have just had to decide whether to try and ride my rattling Cagiva the 10,000 km from the middle of Siberia to Europe or destroy it and fly back - the bike mechanics in Novosibirsk said "It is time for your bike". It's only done 28,000km!!

There is a nasty noise and I have lost power, especially at the top end - I am pretty sure it is just the valve clearance (i.e. new shims would fix it - don't have any new shims though). I have managed to send the bike by train from NBS to Moscow for $100, not too bad, and will be following along on the trans-siberian express.

Rather than try and sort out getting the bike on a train at a train station, try finding a bike shop in Vladivostok, and get them to ship the bike to a bike shop in Moscow, from here it is not too far into Europe. Getting a bike shipped across a border seems to add a huge amount.

Thanks for these answers, my route slightly changed. Instead of going to Vlad I will be going down to Mongolia, then going back to the Baikal lake.
In that region it must be possible to set the bike and myself on the train to Moskou and ride back to the Netherlands, just as you proposed:thumbup: , so thank you again for the info. Baikal, how did you get in touch with the Russian motorcycle clubs network? Is there a possibility to travel in the same train with your bike? Then I can unload the bike myselve. Henry, so you went to a bike store in Novosibirsk and they arranged the shipping to Moskou?
Maybe when you get back you can sent a mail and tell how this trip went.

We got many Email adress from a biker in Tomsk. But you can also get in contact by the website of Sinus - it's a real effectiv working network! Just visit http://www.sinus.vl.ru and go to the forum.
On our website we have some more links to some bikerclubs - just look and visit them (knowing some Russian will be helpfull).
It would be easier if you are able to read and speak some Russian, but English will also work.

For travling in the same train there is a possibility - just ask and try it!
Unloading in Moscow will be much more easier than in Far East, I think ;)
