Bike forwarding from Capetown

Hi - I am dropping my Tenere and 3 others on Dec 9th Capetown and want them shipped/freighted back to the UK. Anyone got a good contact - I will be pushed on time and want to arrive Capetown pm Friday 9th and dump the bikes and fly out the next morning . The less hanging around the better. Jeremy Aitchison

Britannia Movers... I used them only a few months ago...

British Company with a office/storage in Capetown.

You just leave your bike and luggage with them along with your carnet and they do EVERYTHING... They have your bike stamped out and them DHL your carnet back to their UK office...

All you have to do is pick up your bike from their office in Croydon a few weeks later..

£650 all in with no dis-assembly, fuel draining or pallet required. You but space in THEIR container. It's not shared with other companies etc. You can leave your bike fully loaded and stack it up as high as you like with presents etc as you own the space from top to bottom.

SO SO SO simple I couldn't believe it..

You could also try PGF, they gave me the best prices and took care of everything, and gave me a lift to the airport...though they're pretty close anyway...

Hope I'm not too late.

I chose Bradley from Menzies/IMA/MMA (whatever it is) to ship my bike home from Cape Town to Frankfurt by plane in mid 2010. The short: 800 Euro (incl. all fees, crate) for 200 kg brutto volumetric/real weight (incl. crate), no problems, no hassle, very fast. Highly recommended!

Here are a couple of threads about Menzies by Dan et al. who used them before me:

http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...-cheaper-33929
http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...argo-2-a-33148

Bradley's cell: 0027842092586
They're located right at the airport cargo terminal: S33.96112 E18.59430 - Google Maps Note that this is a new address, they moved in 2010.
or in GPS: S 33 57.667 E 18 35.658

I phoned around to get quotes from freight agents, but they were all MUCH more expensive than Bradley. You have to give him notice about a week in advance, so he can book the freight, arrange for a crate etc.

Customs is done 200 meters from their office, the first time anybody checked the frame number, actually. But all very fast and straight forward.

The cargo arrived a day late in Frankfurt, but apparently that's normal for cargo. No major fees on the Frankfurt side.

Good luck, Julian

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
