What Paperwork required for recieving my bike in the USA?

I have been told I might need extra documentation on the far end, something about an EPA exemption to be allowed to ride it, and that it is more complicated than shipping to Canada.

Anybody have any further info on this? I'm a Canadian rider in Panama, shipping back to N America, I was hoping to ride the last leg back to Canada at least, and save a bunch on shipping, as well as visiting some friends along the way.

I have a Adventure logistic business here in Miami and frequently bring HUBB/ADV riders to the U.S., the fact is:

1. Customs want to see your Bil of lading (ocean shipment) or AirwayBill (air cargo shgipping), passport, bike registration or title and entry visa (if you are a tourist).
Then you fill a form (#3299) with them called 'unaccompanied baggage or effects', which include your motorcycle of course.
The bike should be clean of mud or must be sprayed by agriculture

2. They say that any US bike returning to the US should be inspected to comply with the US standards and not having any real mod modification but, at the end they don't enforce it.

3. If your bike is not an U.S. registered, simple, the bike to be allowed for 1 year in the country and no requisite is needed for the bike. Any tourist could bring a vehicle for 1 year.

Customs takes 5 minutes and no $$ charges , they stamp your B/L and you are free to retrieve your bike from the shipper. Pay them port or airport charges (around $35) and leave then riding.

Hendi and I , went to the airport an assist these nice Polish couple coming from Bogota to Miami.

The process went smooth and short as expected. As an advice, when you do an air shipping, provide on the 'airwaybill' an address in the U.S. (Hotel, mine, or one of your relatives). It could be your home address too. Also, provide a contact information. You could use our address (previous contact with me of course).

Customs, require to fill a form 3299 'Free entry unacompanied personal effects' for tourits only, regardless if the bike is a U.S. registered or a foreign bike. Unacompanied effect is any baggage or vehicle sent by you on a separated cargo.
It must be part of your trip within the date of your arrival (before of after)

Don't matter where you arrive in the US, the process is the same at any customs office at the airport or ocean port of entry.

As for charges?, Customs is free of charge, and you just pay a fee at the air cargo ($35 or so), if the cargo is picked up during 3 days of grace form the cargo arrival. Or you will pay daily storage fee.
