Airport fees to retrieve a motorcycle?
 

Hi all,

What sorts of fees have people had to pay at airports to receive their motorcycles after shipping them by air? So far all I've found on the HUBB is a mention of $60 for Buenos Aires.

We are currently in Cairo, trying to get our bikes back from EgyptAir (after shipping them here from Tunis since we couldn't get Libyan visas). The one quote we have so far from an agent is US$500 per bike to cover fees (~US$320), baksheesh and commission... has anyone seen this sort of cost before?

Sounds very high - but typically Egyptian!

good luck! We do not have good memories of Egyptian customs and airports. Not big on fees, but very big on hassle and paperwork nonsense. Careful with the carnet!
