Air or ship bike to New Zealand??

Hi,

New to foum but would like some advice on how best to get my bike to New Zealand from the UK.

I've been quoted around £600 plus insurance for shipping but have heard a few accounts of all sorts of problems. Has anyone shipped or flown their bike, can anyone recommend companies, issues to be aware of etc

Thanks
Matt

Have you checked out the shipping links on the left yet?

Hi Peter,

Yes, I've had a look at the links on the left but have hit a bit of a wall. I cannot seem to find one company that is able to pack, ship my bike by air cargo and deal with all necessary custom requirements.

I've had more luck in terms of finding companies shipping my sea. Any suggestions appreciated.

Thanks

Shipping M/C to NZ by Air

Matt,
I'm in the process of sending my F800gs to NZ using James Cargo, www.jamescargobikes.com Tel 01753687722. Overall cost including crating and insurance was £2045. There are additionsal costs of approx £250 at the NZ end. A little expensive, but it is my first time of sending a m/c by air so I wanted to get it right.

I dropped the bike off at their Colnbrook Depot nr Slough on tuesday 20th December morning and the bike flies out today. It is due to be in Auckland International Airport NZ on Christmas Day. I specified I wanted to collect the bike on January 5th and was informed additional time had to allowed in case the cargo flight was delayed/cancelled due to Christmas traffic/Bank Holidays.

The only problem I have encountered is, if you want the bike cleared through customs prior to your arrival make sure who ever is clearing the bike has the original Carnet, a copy won't suffice.

I'll let you know how I get on when I go to collect the bike.

Stuart
