Air freighting to SanJosé, Costa Rica
I want to air freight my bike from UK into the southern end of Central America to start to travel north. My original thought was Panama City, Panama but my freight company (Motofreight) has recommended San José, Costa Rica as an easier option. There is nothing in the HU database about shipping into there so I'm wandering if anyone out there has any experience of the practicalities of importing there? Thanks

I'll answer my own post to give my experience of shipping from UK to southern Central America.
To San Jose, Costs Rica I got a quote equivalent to US$2050 from Motofreight in London. There was also an estimate of US$1250 from their CR agent for clearance is total cost US$3300. I was also warned that clearance would take 2-3 days and require my attendence for at least some of the process. At the same time Motofreight quoted $3025 to Panama with their agent there quoting $200 and near instant clearance. Since the total cost for both was near identical I chose the Panama option and flew the bike in at the end of February. It went very smoothly. Bike arrived safely as promised and clearance took 2 hours from start to finish. I've added all this in the shipping database for anyone who needs a bit more detail.
