In addition to the above you will need the vehicle registration documents, if they are in anyone else's name or registered to a company, you will need a letter of authorisation from them to take the vehicle outside of your home country - even if you own the company. GPS's are registered at customs, you'll need to be able to remove it so they can see the equipment and serial number, International driving licences are not required if your stay is less than 3 months

Mike Hannan

Just had a month riding all over Tunisia on our 1150 GSA. The blog is elsewhere on the site (Mike and Jo Hannan). The advice you have above is right. You will need the ORIGINAL of your vehicle registration and your insurance certificate as well as you passport with a valid visa if you need one. Jo is travelling on an Australian passport and needed a visa. We had been told that this was available on arival. This may be the case if you arive by air, but it was not so simple by boat and we spent 2.5 hours at the border sorting it. Our advice is that if you need an visa, get it before you arrive. There is the usual amount of disorganisation at the border, but no real problems. Regards, Mike

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
