Visas for Iran, Pakistan & India

Only a couple of months before I embark on my Big One, so am getting fairly excited. I only have one slight niggle and that concerns the above. I see from other threads that I can get my visas for Iran and Pakistan whilst I am in Turkey. To all of you who have gone before, can I and should I ALSO get my Indian visa in Turkey, or should I wait until I get to Pakistan?

This site has been absolutely invaluable in helping me plan my trip. A big thank you to all.

See you at the HU meeting in Tintaldra. I will probably pick up more ideas there!! :thumbup1:

We got our Indian visas before leaving home, because they're valid for 6 months (and theyre multiple entry I think). Took about 5 working days to get them.

At least this is how it was with our passport (Finland), not 100% sure, if it'll be the same for all nationalities.

And depend of course, how long your going to spend between home and India.

Careful: Indian visas begin to expire from the date of issue, not the date of entry, i.e. you have to leave India 6 months after your visa was issued.

Different embassies handle visas differently. In Ankara, the Pakis demand a letter of non-objection from your embassy. The Germans refuse to deliver this and I have heard the same from some other countries, like Italy. Check with Oz Foreign Affairs as to how they handle this. In Dubai the German embassy gave me the required letter (a typical case of the left not knowing what the right is doing, but lucky for me). But getting Pak and India visas there is a pain. Iranian visas, however, are dead easy and efficient there.

Thanks for the replies. I contacted the Indian Embassy in Australia and they recommend applying in Turkey or Pakistan. So it looks like I'll be having a go for all three whist in Turkey.
