Visa contact in Sudan
 

Hi all,

33 days left and I need to apply for a Sudanese visa from Sweden. The embassy requires a contact in Sudan who can take a copy of my passport to the foreign ministry in Khartoom in order to get a visa from the embassy in Sweden. Does anyone know such a contact? I need the visa in order to get a transit visa for Saudi.

Would be very grateful for help!

you could try George at the acropolis hotel khartoum, but watch it hes not afraid to charge..we got our visa in cairo took two days but we were on a british passport..are swedish requirements different..
we met a great bloke called Kamal at the blue nile sailing club khartoum wonderfully helpfull and took us around..perhaps a good place to start looking..sorry cant give yu a contact number for either..someone else on here may be able to help

I haven't checked this forum for a while, so perhaps things have changed with the situation in W Darfur.
However, when I went through in May 2003, I collected a visa from the SUdanese embassy in Cairo. This took 24hours, as opposed to a 6month wait in London.
A couple of friends had the same experience barely 6 months and also collected their visa in Cairo within 24hours.

I have the contact to George but like you said he is pricey. I'll try the Amr guy maybe he is better. How much did you pay, Matt?

The reason for not picking up the visa in Cairo is that we are going over Saudi Arabia to avoid the ruthless Carnet costs in Egypt. In order to get a transit visa through Saudi, I need to have a sudanese visa already in my passport. Thats why I have to through this mess...

If anyone has more tips, please let me know.

The výsa ýtself cost me about US33 ýn Kampala, Uganda.

I thýnk Amr wanted US50 for ýssuýng an ýnvýtatýon letter, but they dýd mýne wýthout chargýng me (maybe an admýnýstratýve oversýght?)
