use of carnet card

If the carnet card expires after one year and a person is on the road for a longer period, what is required to renew it? (from the Canadian Clud) If a person has the card, what matter is it if a country requires it or not, or accepts it or not? You have one, use it. Don't have one, pay the duty. any idea on the percentage of RTW riders who DO NOT have a carnet card?

Frank Warner 7 Feb 2006 03:36

You do realise that the payable duty can be 470% of the vehicles value? Not may RTW travellers would have the ready cash to pay that. And loose some % due to exchange rates.

Renewals of carnets are up to the issueing club, ring them up? Might take some time to get the answer. Write to them if you want teh answer in writing?

Renewal is dead easy, ask Suzanne Danis.

You just send them back the carnet and they send you a new one. Do it in a country that doesn't use it is easiest, or they will send you back the last page from the old one. No problemo!

READ the Carnet page! Under Triplanning on left...
