US citizen not welcom
 

I am planning my RTW and I am french but my pillon is US citizen , is there any list of country which will refused to give her a visa.

Libya is very hard for North Americans as far as I know...

North Korea for obvious reasons and Cuba too.

I know Bolivia raised their visa fee for US citizens in response the the US doing the same first but you should still be welcome.

Somalia (but why would you want to)

Iran could be a major problem too.

Burma isnt too yankie friendly either so I hear.


Sadly, the British passport isnt what it used to be either :(

It seems to me that some countries have visa options for foreigners avialable, but in practice, the process is made harder for some foreign nationals, more than others, for political reasons.

I don't know that this site will give you such informations, but it might be worth a try...

Hi, I'm a US citizen on my second RTW. I have never been refused a visa yet. Vietnam just issued me one- I'm trying to get my bike in too- I'll let you know! Last I heard Iran was more irritated with the UK than than the US. I will be applying for my Iranian visa after I reach India. I have ridden into Burma twice. The border guards hold your passport and this limits the range of travel to around 150kms from the border. There is no "free ride" across Burma as the country is cut into regions and certain regions and roads are protected by military posts. It is possible to cross Burma, though often problematic. I also had little trouble getting my visa for Sudan and loved the country. Americans are allowed to visit Cuba though flights from the US to Cuba have been banned since Kennedy (who HATED Castro) put the "hex" on Cuba. Americans are advised to get their entry visa stamped (for Cuba) on a loose paper to be placed or stapled into their passports. Several years ago any and all restrictions regarding travel to Libya were lifted by the Libyans. While there are warnings against travel to Iraq and Afghanistan, we can still go visit if we want (wear a blade resistant scarf in tribal Afghanistan!). So in short, I wouldn't worry at all. Hi Peter, I read that on the internet as well. Then again, one reads and hears so much fluff (BS) on the internet. Things change so quickly I'll just wait a few months to see how it goes. I don't want to miss Iran after all the good things I've heard from fellow riders. I've read of riders from other countries being refused entry to Iran as well as others- from the same country- getting in just a few weeks later. A pillon can always hop on a plane to cross a "no go" area. Just find a nice place to cool your heels and meet up later. I have found the better your "plan B" is, the less likely you'll need to use it. H.

Hello Dave. I see you were attempting to get permission to enter Vietnam with your bike. How did that go? I tried 3 times from Cambodia with no success and now wish to do see about shipping from the Philippines. I appreciate any feedback.
