uk citizen, VISAs for USA and CANADA

hi all, i am going to ride across the usa in a month, beginning in florida (coming from the caribbean) and ending in oregon and passing up into canada.
being a uk citizen, i will hopefully be applicable for the visa waiver program. (up to 90 days)
however,
1 i don't have a return ticket from the us, as i'll be riding in to canada. does this pose a problem?
2, do i need a visa for canada? i would like to work there. in which case must a get a visa BEFORE ENTERING THE USA, TO PROVE TO THE USA THAT I'M LEAVING.??????

many thanks for advice,

paris kennard

Please search the HUBB because this has been discussed extensively. Check the Canadian consulate website for your visa requirements.

If you want to work in Canada or in the USA you will need more than a simple tourist visa. Suggest you google each country's government websites on this. |
If you are only intending to vacation travel across the US and Canada you can probably get away with simply your passport and proof of arrangements for travel home. The US will give you an I 94 tourist card valid for a 90 day visit (cost $6). Europeans coming into USA from Canada have only to do this. Canada too will accept your passport as proof of your citizenship , but expects you to leave .
