UAE Carnet Issuers

Hello Everyone!

I'm on a multi leg around the world trip and I'm only now getting into the countries that require a carnet. A Carnet only lasts for one year, even though they are sitting on $15,000 worth of deposits. I work for four months then ride for two, this spreads the trip out over a few years, making a carnet expensive to renew every year.

Do to a last minute route change, I have a CAA carnet that I haven't used at all. Now it's almost expired In order to renew it I have to pay them either $795 or $995 depending on if I become a AAA member or not.

There must be another way to get a Carnet that last longer than one year or maybe someone knows of a cheaper way for a US citizen to get a carnet from another cheaper source.

When I wrote the CAA to complain they made an offhand referral to the UAE club that issues carnets. Does anyone have any experience with this entity?

Thank you!

Where is your vehicle registered?

I don't think anyone in UAE will issue a CDP for a vehicle that is not registered in UAE.
Having said that I've never tried and sometimes if you catch the guy in charge on a good day here you can just about get around anything.

" We issue less that eighty carnets per year, continent wide, yet the knowledge and skill resources are the same as needed by a Club like UAE which issues thousands per year. That’s why the fees from such a Club are less than ours."

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
