Angry Trouble getting Tourist Permit at Agua Prieta MX

Hi, just got rejected in Agua Prieta MX for a Tourist Permit because my vehicle registration doesn't have my name on it (Illinois), but it does have my drivers license number. Anybody have a solution to this problem?

The employee says the vehicle Reg must have the owners name, specifically, but IL doesn't provide that info. Supposedly he called his boss and couldn't provide me with a permit.

A co-rider couldn't get the permit because he recently reregistered his bike and only has the 'hand written' version and has not rec'd his registration card yet.

Any suggestions from you experienced folks?

Thanks,

Just Bob

I would have made a bet, and lost it too, that there was no State that didn't include the owner's name on the registration doc.

You could:
Visit another border crossing
Print your own registration and use that
Use the Title rather than the registration doc

Try this. I recently crossed in Columbus and they refused me entry because i didn´t have an expiry date on my registration. Truth is, the reg. had a line for aircare expiry, which was blank because my bike doesn´t qualify for aircare testing. I went acress the street to the Aduana office and explained my problem to the nice lady, who greedily accepted a $20 bribe to write me a note for the guy in Banjercito. Truth is, if my Spanish was better it probably would of cost me nothing. Remember, Mexico is very corrupt and $20 will buy you almost anything

...I just re-read Lone´s sugestions, and his are much better than mine Only try a bribe if all else fails.
