Travel on a restricted EU license <25kW (33hp) an issue?

Hi, I'm looking at traveling around Argentina, Chile and possibly Bolivia. Plan is to fly into Buenos Aires, buy the bike there or in "nearby" city and do the trip. I have a license restricted to <25kW (33hp). Will this be an issue with police / authorities there. Will they actually notice the restriction at all? There may be no definitive answer for this but your advice is appreciated.

I could do the trip on a smaller bike but bigger would be better (like a 650).

The other option is do it in India on a Bullitt but SA was where I was hoping..
Thanks, David.

Hi David, i cannot comment on South America but in 09 i did a tour of the Black Sea with my son which included 23 different counries. He was riding with a restricted licence and he was never asked about his restricted licence. I doubt if anyone outside the UK would pick up on thr restriction. Andy

I rode accross europe on a restricted license I don't think anyone would have batted an eyelid if the bike I was on was more than 33bhp.

I think you're only likely to have a problem if your in an accident as checkp points won't have a dyno to test the bike

Insurance could be a problem.
If you are riding a > 33hp bike with a <33hp license, you don't have a valid license for that bike and so the imsurance company will not pay if something happens (that what Dutch companies would do and I guess insurance companies in other countries will also use everything they can to NOT pay.)

some bikes such as the Bonneville can easily be restricted. 33hp will get you close to 100mph which is faster than you are allowed most places.so there really isn't any problem.

To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
