So, what forms are now needed to get a vehicle from the customs?

EPA-letter
Other customs forms?
Proof of US Insurance?
Anything else?
Do you need to have an US address for the forms?

We just had EPA forms. Insured bikes with Progressive but needed a US address. Got on ADV and asked the question - had the choice of 12 members offering use of address. Insured the bikes, doc's got posted. Only snag - you need to go into any Progessive office within 30 days to show you driving license and you need to sign and return the insurance forms. It's all easy.

Customs is asking a letter of conformity from me.
I have EPA letter already + all other documents.

Hemuli,

The EPA form is an exemption certificate to enable you to temp import a nonconforming motor vehicle. Customs don't understand the EPA?

We didn't get asked for a letter of conformity, you could email customs the wording on the EPA letter.

After 3 visits to the customs, finally there was different person at the counter.
I explained same things: Temporary importation as non resident, showed again my EPA-approval letter and told that BMW NA and BMW Hollywood said that I do not need a Letter of Conformity and that I do not need a letter from DOT.
Result: I got customs papers stamped and got my bike from the airline cargo

Good on you brother, Colorado and Utah especially Moab are great. Ride out of town toward arches NP - left hand turn near to Arches entrance - free bush camping if you need it.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
