Temporary import of AUS bikes into UK
 

I am an Australian motorcyclist planning a bike trip in UK and Europe in 2012. I am organising my own shipping of my motorcycle to UK, and am looking for information about import requirements, including the name of an insurer that will insure the bike for the 10 weeks I will be there.

I have contacted many UK insurance companies and so far, no-one can help me.

Do I in fact, need this insurance, if I have current insurance in Australia?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I keep hitting brick walls!

I recently used Mototouring to get a green card for my Aus registered 4x4 and they were very efficient and easy to deal with.

Not sure how it will be shipping your bike direct to the UK, but when I arrived in Italy by ferry and then later in the UK by ferry no-one asked for any documents for the car.
