South Korea car Insurance
Hi,
we are in Russia now and we will be arriving to South Korea 11.10.2012 with our car. We will stay there one months and next stop is Japan. I am having trouble to find out how to insure our car. I contacted some insurers, but no luck so far. Thank you for your help Kamil+Helena BTW I tried to search forum, but did not find anything.

Hi Kamil + Helena
We are in South Korea now, although leaving in the next few days or so. We arrived into Donghae on the ferry from Russia, which I assume you are doing as well? You can buy insurance there. When we went to get the bike and do customs etc, we got an invoice with the insurance included on it. You don't have to buy it there if you don't want to though and they will do you a new invoice without it, if you prefer. Note that if you are going on the ferry, they don't accept roubles on board, only Japanese Yen (maybe Korean Won too but can't remember ) and US Dollars and there's no where to change money on the boat. You can change money at the terminal upon arrival in SK though. When you arrive in SK, you will also be charged a non-refundable 'guarantee charge for customs'. You don't need a Carnet for South Korea but if you have one for other countries on your trip, make sure you tell them as then this charge will be deducted. You will be told about all these charges before you ship (assuming you'll be using Yuri Melnikov (ymelnik@links-ltd.com) in Vladivostok to arrange your ferry passage) but just a little heads up. I'm sure you'll enjoy Korea - we have! The people are friendly and the food tasty. Safe travels. Debz
