Libya Transit Visa

Hi,

We are looking for help with trying to find out if it is possible to get a transit visa for Libya, so that I do not need pay for a guide.

We have been told that it is possible to get a 5-7 day transit visa as we are just travelling along the coastal road from Tunisa to Egypt, and therefore do not need the 100US$ a day guide!

Can anyone help with info on where or how to do this as the Libyan People Bureau have not been any help.

Hope this reply isn't too late to be of help, but we have just travelled the route you mention (& back). We had no luck in obtaining the Transit visa, although we had heard that they may be available (& it wasnt for want of trying), we had to eventally have the dreaded guide & policeman!!
I can give you info on the excellent guide we used if you need it

We are planning to cross through Libya from Tunisia to Egypt in just over a month's time. Have done all my homework as to all the paperwork required to obtain a transit visa and were planning to apply in Tunis. However the information I have been working off is a little outdated so it would be great to hear more up to date info from you.
What was the problem/s you encountered that meant you weren't granted a transit visa?
Have you heard of anyone else being successful in obtaining one lately or am I living in false hope?
