Selling Dutch 4X4 in South Africa under carnet to fellow Dutchmen

this is my first post on the forum, a very good source of knowledge already!
I have looked for answers on my specific question and I am still not sure:

I am planning to drive to South Africa in my Landrover Discovery this November which is registered in the Netherlands, store it at someone's driveway there, fly home, sell it to a fellow Dutchmen who will fly to South Africa an drive the car home.
This process will be completed within one year.

The question I have is following: I imagine that on my carnet the car will never have been stamped out of South Africa, the fellow dutchmen will have a new carnet on which the vehicle will never have been stamped in when he is leaving South Africa!

Is it possible in a situation like this to transfer the carnet on another persons name? That would make sense. The carnet for dutchemn are issued by ADAC, the german association.

If anyone has experience with this situation, please give me some tips!!

this is the reply [I] got from the German Motoring club ADAC:

unfortunately we have to inform you, that you are not allowed to sell the vehicle, when using a Carnet de Passages. You can read this in our brochure with information about use and application for a Carnet de Passages.

So you should drive the car home to the Netherlands by yourself or ship the vehicle back to Europe.

What do you think? It doesnt really make sense.

The carnet is meant to prevent you from keeping the vehicle in the carnet country/countries any longer than will be permitted. So if you sell it in a carnet country (and it was imported on carnet), then you have broken the agreement you have with the carnet issuing body.

But I remember reading something about having another alternative temp import method/permit to South Africa, but don´t know much about it myself... maybe others can shed more light into that. (There was also some thread about it here not so long ago).

If you are not able to get into South Africa without using a carnet you can go back to Zambia where no carnet is required.

Alibaba, does that mean I should store the car in Zambia? I dont have a reliable adressen there, south africa would be much more convenient!

Quite a hassle while doing something which is obviously not shady in any way. Someone has an alternative?

That does seem like a possibility, I wouldnt actually use a carnet for SA. Question remains: Will the new buyer be able to leave SA without problems?
