Selling bike in foreign countries

Hello to all,

I am currently in Asia and planning the next part of my trip. I am not sure whether I want to drive from Belgium (my country) to South Africa, or from Chile to Alaska. Now one thing is not very clear to me and I can't really find a clear answer here (I may have posted this a bit too early). At the end of the trip (at either Alaska, USA or South Africa), is it possible to sell my bike? I have read that you would have to import it, but what would the costs for such an action be? I've heard stories of people shipping their motorbikes back to Europe (in case of the Africa trip), but I'd rather just sell it if it doesn't make me lose too much money.

Kind regards

You can allways sell and dispose vehicles at the boarder between two countrys. Export is and the new owner imports it on his name.
In South Africa it will certanly be on your carned and therefore you cant sell it to local but may be to another tourist ho will ride it back to Europa.
About USA a friend hat to make a credit card deposit of 400US$ for a small 125cc bike so may be even more for a big bike. You will get it back, if you export the bike again within a special time. Dont know if anyone else can do this for you or if you lose the money if you sell the bike...
