Selling Bike in East Africa: High Duty Costs?
Hi all,
I was told by a South African AA rep that reselling bikes/vehicles in Tanzania/Kenya and perhaps other places in the Horn is extremely expensive, up to 100% the value of the vehicle. I'm planning on riding north from Zambia and selling there, but am afraid I won't be able to sell b/c of extremely high duty. Can anyone corroborate this story, or give me an alternative idea of what to do with my bike? Is it cheaper just to fly it to South Africa for sale? Sigh. Hunter

Sell it to an expat,
if they have the right contacts they'll know how to solve the problem. Depending on the bike you have, I may know someone who has the contacts and is probably looking. You've got my email already. Geoff
