Any way to get US insurance without the 15 day wait??.....

Our bikes have just arrived in Vancouver and will, in the next couple of days clear customs so we can continue the penultimate leg our RTW across North America. we've been trying to so some insurance and all the local brokers have looked a bit blankly at us when we've asked about insuring a pair of UK registered bikes for a couple of months and have insisted that we'd need to re-register them as Canadian vehicles before they could act which we're struggling to believe.

We've just had a quick look at Motorcycle Express' website who have overland specific policies but it says that they require 15 days notice to issue a policy!!!

can this really be true? Obviously we'll give them a call in the morning but I thought it best to call on the wealth of expertise on the Hubb first so I'm ready for whatever they throw at me. Of course if anyone has other options we haven't considered yet then I'm all ears.

try Dairyland insurance company . 800-391-8144 . i faxed them a copy of my V5 and import papers and did the rest over the phone . they are in america but they gave me cover for canada as well .they were helpfull i think $45 for 6 weeks on my uk XT 600
