Russian Visa more than 30 days?

Hello,

Next year i plan a trip to Mongolia and the Stans. I'll be going from Ukraine by Russia to Mongolia. But it's quite a distance to cover within a 30 day visa permit. Some people told me if you can get a business visa you're allowed 3 months into the country. I won't need 3 months but anyway. Anyone who knows what you got to do to get a business visa?
Thanks!

Cheers, Bossit! :-)

like any russian visa, first you need the invitation.

I get my business visa invitations every year thru VisaLink, Russian business visa, . A more user friendly (but more expensive) site is WayToRussia.Net

Once you have your invitation, you write a letter saying you are self employed and looking for investment opportunities or something like that in Russia. Or on any company letterhead write a letter saying you are going there for work purposes.

Then you send all the docs to the embassy, and they send you back a visa.

note. Tourist visa invitations are done within 24 hours, but longer term visas take longer. Anything over 3 months (maybe including 3 months) has to be cleared by the FSB. My 12 month visa invitations take 3-4 weeks to come through. So plan ahead

we have 5 guys needing businss visas. what are your thoughts, colebatch, on whether to all apply together or stagger our applications so that we are not associated with each other?

another visa agency option

we have just been in and out of Russia and Mongolia 'stans etc...
we used David at Stantours for our 3 mnth double entry Russian visa.
fast, reliable and not overly expensive.

If I were you I would apply for them all at the same time. I dont think staggering them will make any difference whatsoever.

Lisa,
we are trying to organise visas for next year wishing to start in Vlad, ride through Mongolia then the Stans and back up into Russia. This requires a multiple entry visa which seems near impossible first time around. Do you know of a crossing between Mongolia and Kazakstan so that we only need a double entry visa into Russia?
Thanks Simon

Impossible by land.
China is between them and extends up to the Russian border although there is no road crossing (China/Russia) here.

Thanks for the tip, Lisa! When are you heading out of Vlad, Simon? We'll be doing a similar route, probably leaving Vlad end of April

Robbie we will be arriving in Japan late April plan for a couple of weeks there then over to Russia

Cool mate, sounds great. If we're still in Vlad by early May, would be good to catch up (we'll be working with Living Hope, a charity helping street kids, in Vlad for a while before setting off). Check out our plans at 51st Traverse
Might see you next year mate.
Rob

I used the following agency

Real Russia — Hotels, Trains, Visas, Tours, Trans-siberian experts

They sorted out a multi entry Russian visa, Kazakhstan visa, Mongolia visa, and 60 day multi entry Chinse visa for me in about 10 days....they work quick. But of course charge a little more. Saves alot of faffing around though.

I knew a guy who told me about a "cultural" visa for Russia. He is an Aussie, and managed to get a multi entry "cultural" visa....not sure how this worked but perhaps worth investigating further.

If you are a schengen passport holder you can get multi entry Russian visas for up to 5 years now.

I can recommend Stantours also.
