Russian Paperwork

Hi
I'm planning to leave for Russia some time around March, i know its been covered a lot, but can any one tell me what paper work i will need, there are lots of post's on HU all giving different good advice but
I would like to make a list of what i need to get in and out of Russia, how easy it is to get a visa ( for 6 months ), documentation for me and the bike and any other paperwork i may need, and any info from travelers who have had good and bad experiances in Russia, any recomendations on place's to visit, i always thing a guide book is ok but not as good as some one who has visited a place all ready. Cheers Skip

For you, you need Passport and Visa. For visa details start at the Russian Embassy UK website.
General requirements to visa documents

If you have contacts within Russia to apply to the Ministry for invitation, you can do it yourself. Otherwise there are very good agencies who do it all for you - for a modest fee. The biggest part of the cost is what the Embassy charge - which it is a diplomatic 'tit for tat' because the British Embassy in Moscow charge Russians a lot!

For vehicle, you need the registration document (V5), Driving Licence & IDP and insurance - either a Green Card or buy it on entry (4 months bike insurance cost me about GBP40 - but that is the legal minumum insurance).
If V5 not in your name, you also need a letter of authority from registered keeper.
