Riding in Korea for Swiss licence

Hi all,

I've have been browsing the forum and read a lot of posts about possibilities (or not) for some to ride in Korea (ie problem for Germans).

Does anyone know if there might be any problems for a Swiss licence / Swiss vehicle / French passport?

Hi Kickaha,

I know that Swiss bikes have been in South Korea (for example madmarco ), but that doesn't mean its officially allowed because I have been there as well and I'm German with a German bike.

To get a reliable answer I would suggest that you contact the Swiss Automobile Club (http://www.acs.ch). I did the same with the German one (ADAC) and they gave me good information for German bikes. (German licensed vehicles are not allowed, but our driver licenses are ok). You then know if you are allowed or not, and if not you can make the decision if you want to chance it or not.

Cheers Patrick
PS: Please post here what you have found out. Others are likely to be interested in that information too.

Hi Patrick,

Thanks for the tip. I could not get an indication from them yet, but I got in touch wih the Korean embassy in Switzerland today and their answer was:
a) there is no problem for getting a Swiss registered vehicle into Korea
b) with an international driving licence, driving is permitted.

Now I hope the facts once there correspond to the theory!

Cheers
