return tickets (entry visa's)

I have been inquiring into visa's for a trip I'd like to do next year and some of the visa's require me to have a return ticket. I mean a ticket to show you will be leaving the country.
How do you global bikers get around this.

only solution I can see is to buy a bus ticket at the border to the nearest country but this seems a waste of cash.

Is there a way round this that I've missed?

Talk to the embassies ın question and explain that you are going by road. This should normally be waived. Otherwise, you can get expensive air tickets (regular IATA fares) that you can return for little or no cost.

I encountered this problem with my flight from the US to Vladivostok last year. I was told by Korean Air that, because of Russian laws, I would be denied boarding for the flight to Vladivostok if I did not have a return ticket. My solution was to buy a fully refundable one way return ticket, resulting in no actual cost to me except that a lot of money was unavailable for several weeks.

Despite what I was told by the airline, at no point during this trip was my return ticket asked for and checked - not in Salt Lake City, not in LA, not in South Korea and not in Vladivostok.

This is troubling me at the moment.

Iv only bought a single way ticket into Argentina to meet my bike and now im worried I wont get in !!

I am looking at this at the moment for our Pan American trip.

We are looking to ship our bikes to Toronto.

The USA was our first option but they are getting tighter on visas. The USA requires a non refundable return ticket or onward fight and if it's onward to some countries (like Mexico) you need to be a resident in that country.

Not sure what the answer is at the moment.

Iv been told by Nik Bosley who flew into Argentina 2 years ago that he wasnt asked for a return flight or an onward flight.

Im going to try and check in with just my single way flight and hope for the best.

If I have to, ill buy a refundable return flight there and then..... They will get some argument before that happens though.

Im pretty sure that North America demands a return flight. They are so strict and anal about immigration now, its almost a joke.

Having your retina scanned and finger prints taken for a weekend in New York pissed me off. You dont know what the yanks are doing with that information ??

I could understand if I was a muslim extremist coming from Irak but im White British. (not that it should make a difference, but it does).

Plus, im meant to be a supposed "ally" of the mighty Bush administration :confused1:

Anyway, back to the point. Call an airlines helpdesk. They should be able to tell you.
