Paul Gowen is the man!!(Thanks Allen!)
Just a quick post to praise Paul Gowen @ RAC. Following a query about carnets that I posted, Allen Starkey suggested I contact Paul. The man is a diamond! He answered all my questions and sent me the necessary info. pack p.d.q. If your on a U.K.licence and are confused  about carnets this man has all the answers!
Thanks again Allen for the tip. By the way,I can follow my intended route, though I think I'll give Egypt a miss(800% duty is toooo steep!).
