Passports

Hi and apologies for such a pedantic first post but...

I'm planning a trans Africa trip for about this time next year but I've got to renew my (UK) passport for a "work" trip to America next month: should I get the 48 page passport now or will some border crossings (we're probably going to go across the North hopefully from Morocco via Mauritania and then down the East) be easier without the American stamp? :blushing:

Cheers,

Ollie

I had no problems going through morocco, senegal, mauritania and gambia earlier this year with a US stamp in my passport.
those that are bothered about such things hate the Brits as much as the Yanks anyway - thanks tony!!

Cheers Andy, fair point about "us" being just as popular :frown:

I crossed into Mauritania the end of last year, with an American in tow. They didn't bat an eyelid; I'm on an Irish passport with plenty of US stamps. The American was very coy about declaring himself American to those he met; the only person that was openly 'anti' American (& British to some extent) was an Iraqi guy - Ali who owns two restaurants in Nouakchott one almost opposite Auberge des Nomades (excellent place!) - spent an interesting Christmas day chatting to him about the war etc!
