Pakistan visa. Any advice?
I'm in the process of applying for a visa to cross Pakistan. I'm not good with paperwork. A lot of seems extremely unnecessary such as names of father, mother, where I work, etc. I'm only looking for a short term tourist visa. Oh well... anyway.
I have a letter of invitation sorted out from a travel agency, does this mean I'm "sponsered"? Any help in filling out the form is very welcome. My issues are I'm not working at the moment and need to give details of current employer, I'm not flying in and need to show flight booking and don't know if an invitation is a sponser? I can arrange a fake letter from my employer and could set up a flight and cancel... is it necessary or should I just tell the truth? Will they check, I really can't imagine they would.

Dont Stess Out!
Visa application forms take a long time and they are always different - most of the time I contact the embassy and ask, for Pakistan you HAVE to get the visa from your home country or country of residence therefore at least you speak the same language!(note: I have met people who got their visa in India but it took weeks of running around.)

Current Employer - just put down your last one, they dont call well Australia didnt call. You dont need a letter.

Flights - Just tell them you are planing to cross the land boarders - you will be asked to provide booking details for a hotel instead. Just fake one of these or book it if you prefer.

Invitation Letter is sponsorship their details down on the form and include the letter.

note: Visa on arrival from China for most countries. It costs a lot less than a visa from your home country.

Of course I'm stressing out....
The lack of answers was a bit of a worry. Ok, I will fake a hotel booking and roll the dice. My uncle owns a company, I was going to just get a letter from him, assuming he can write one (he is a heating engineer).
I've done visas before and mostly it all comes down to a few details, it's just a question of knowing which ones are most important.

Hey

It can be an absolute ball ache. They turn you down for no apparently reason and claim your paperwork is incorrect. One reason they gave me was that the personal invite (similar to the one from your uncle) isnt good enough and they need a company to do it.

Sorry if I've confused you, I meant that my uncle can give me a letter saying he employs me, I have a tour company invite letter with a certificate of their tourist license so I think I'm ok there. It wasn't free, it cost me $25 but that was fair enough. It's the other little details i'm worried about.

Where will you apply for your visa?
I just got my one from High Comission London today.
Everything in one day, they don't really look at the papers, they just checking if they are present. Give them any letter from employer, (I am selfemployed, gave them letter from accountant and it was fine), they won't call anyone, they just staple it with others. If you have LOI, don't state any sponsor, you are tourist, sponsoring yourself. Say you are flying to Islamabad, that's it, you don't have to buy the flights before got visa, it's logic.
Remember about itinary, this is important, they checking it for sure. Ask your tour company to make one for you. Something like a week here, week there...sleeping in, travelling by...
It's just about bureaucracy and high fee. Give them all papers and you got visa.

Just remember that you can get Visa on arrival in Sost, Pakistan side coming from China crossing Khunjerab Pass (except Americans at the moment).
