Off-road travel insurance

Hi,

Me and group of friends are going on a two week off-road trip around Cambodia. Some of us have UK bike licenses and some don't. We'll all be using rented bikes.

Could anyone recommend some good insurance companies?

Many thanks.

I presume that you are talking about medical insurance, I have used Ensleigh but they have differing levels of cover some of which does not cover "overlanding" or bikes over 125cc. When taking out insurance tell them exactly what you plan to do and on what size bikes. There is probably a requirement to have a full licence to validate any insurance so those who don't have them might not be covered, again tell then your licence status and ask if it is covered.

Forgive me for re-stating the obvious, but you need to do more than just ask: you need to read the fine print yourself. Insurance agents don't make money by failing to sell you insurance, and as a result they're not known for their painstaking honesty when you ask about exclusions.

Hope that's helpful.

Insurance

Hi Taj

Have you had any luck with your question / getting insurance.

Im in a similar position, goign to Laos for 2 weeks, although I've been riding MX since i was a kid, I dont a have a full bike license, and all the insurance companies I've contacted only insure up to 125cc. Im going to be riding an XR250.

Getting a bit worried now :-(

Anyone know any travel insurance firms that will cover even if you do not have a bike license?

Thanks

Ray

I doubt very much that any company would insure you but also bear in mind the licence requirements of the country you plan to travel in, is a full licence and international driving permit required for a foreigner to ride a 250 there? I don't know the answer but expect it is yes.
