No address for papers? UK

This may be the solution.

I have yet to research this option fully, but from what I have found so far, it sounds like the go.

I don't have friends/family in the UK to use for a postal address for the tax and insurance needed for buying a bike. This was causeing much consternation. I have been leaning towards buying from a dealer so that I may be able to get them to sort it all out for me. So far I have not been able to get this organized.

Time for some lateral thinking.

I remebered about small business's using secretarial and office services and also answering services. Me thinks, Mail services? I googled, and there were heaps of them. Try" mail forwarders UK" , Some of them actually promote the idea of using them for DVLA stuff. They provide you with an address, and a forwarding service and all sorts of other interesting things. All for a price of course. But probably cheaper than the option of paying extra through a dealer for a bike.Pays to look at a number of them as the fees vary wildly.

Also worth a look for insurance is this lot.

Camper Van Insurance and Motor Vehicle Insurance

I have made enquiries but have not yet recieved a reply.

Hope this helps for those in a similar situation. I"ll add further comment as the process unfolds.

You don't have to be british citizen to buy and own bike legally in UK.
As far as you supply UK adress they send you registration certificate in your name. Also insurers don't dig if you are living here or not. What they usually ask is what kind of licence you have (just state international or other) and how long you reside (state less than year or so). Whatever you state no one will ask about it, even in case of accident. There is 4 major bike insurers:

Bennetts - Motorbike Insurance, Compare from 12 insurers online
eBike Insurance - Welcome to eBike Insurance
Motorcycle | Adrian Flux
Cheap Motorbike Insurance - Motorcycle & Bike Insurance - Carole Nash

Try them and choose best one.
If you need adress send me a private message we talk it up.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
