Give Paul Gowan at RAC UK a call, he'll sort you out. He got my carnet sorted for the bike I bought in Australia and rode home. Got the carnet sent to the shipping agent in Malaysia where I'd shipped my bike, all worked out quite well.

1. Carnet

Yes, contact Paul Gowen.

I had/have exactly the same concern.

PG suggested that I should approach NZAA for permission so that the UK’s RAC can arrange the issue of a carnet; bearing in mind that this would be done by concessionary agreement, because ordinarily this should really be NZAA’s responsibility.

FYI, the contact at NZAA is: Alan Chesterman [AChesterman@aa.co.nz]

2. NZ
Licence and Warrant

Dunno what your intentions are, but for me the facts are:
(a) I will be riding the bike, next March, on NZ roads for no more than a week or two before shipping over the ditch to Aus; and (b) I'll never re-import it back into NZ. I'm thinking, therefore, of a arranging a WOF, and then getting a licence for the minimum (I think two or three month) period. I'll let these renewals simply lapse when they fall due.

Let us know what you discover and how you get on.

Cheers

KEITH
