New Bike w/ no tag/title/reg...in Mexico?

I purchased aaa 2004 KLR and want to take it down the length of Baja after the first service in two weeks. The dealer told me that DMV is currently taking 2 months to send the plate/title/reg paperwork on new bikes. I will call DMV tomorrow to see if I can expedite that, but was wondering if I might have trouble south of the border with the two flimdy type sheets I have from the dealership??? I would hate to postpone the trip...Thanks!
