MOT certificate abroad

Has anyone been asked for thier MOT certifictae abroad. Mine runs out in April and I will be away from Jan 04 to Feb 05 so obviously wont be getting it renewed. I seem to remember someone having trouble getting into OZ because it had expired.

I travelled with an NZ registered bike & trailer for over a year through Europe with expired rego and WoF (MOT check). Removed all expired stickers, so nobody could tell (there are no dates in the papers).

I think you'd have to be pretty unlucky to have any such problems, unless the expiry date is clearly marked in your papers. In Oz you should be able to have it checked locally, if necessary. It's obligatory for foreign vehicles in NZ anyway!
