Mixed RTW transport
Anybody know what pain / paperwork / costs are involved with locally buying, legalising & selling bikes in the US & Australia?
I plan to circumnavigate by a number of means, so if anybody has any experience of yacht crewing from north to south america & across the Pacific, drop me a line. |

Simon, buying bikes locally, paperwork etc, is not a problem in all countries that I know of, it's only registering or insuring a foreign bike that's a real problem.
Insurance can be tricky or expensive if you don't have a local licence, but it can be done. Many people have bought bikes and insured them in both USA and Australia, and had no great problems. Reselling a local bike is not a problem. Don't worry about it. ![]() ------------------ Grant Johnson Share the Dream! at: www.HorizonsUnlimited.com [This message has been edited by Grant Johnson (edited 28 August 2000).]
