Mexico border crossing forms
 

Greetings. I'll be crossing the Mexican border on my way to Copper Canyon, then Central and South America. I've heard there are some comprehensive forms that must be filled out at Mexican border customs.

By chance, does anyone know of these forms and possibly have blank copies or a link on where to down load them - so they can be filled out in advance.

I've only taken a quick look at it, so I don't know how easy it is to use.

I've been to Mexico sveral times and never had any paperwork done in advance, and never had a problem. Just make sure you have the title with you. I am a U.S. citizen, don't know if you are or if it makes any difference.

What's Needed to Cross the Border
A passport OR drivers license and certified birth certificate. Title for your bike and letter of permission to take your bike to MX from any leinholders. Insurance is not required, but is recommended.
*A Temporary Vehicle Importation Permit is not needed for Baja California (top 1/2 of Baja), Baja California Sur (bottom 1/2 of Baja) and the State of Sonora.
*When you cross the border you will 1st go to "Immigration" to get your "Tourist Card". Ask directions from any of the border guards/officials. Immigration will have you fill out a simple form, send you (walk) to a border Banco (lil' bitty bank office) nearby to pay the fee (approx $21US) and then return to Immigration for the official stamp on your "Tourist Card" (piece of thin paper). Now, you're good to go.....

You'll need a Temporary Vehicle Importation Permit which is done at the crossing when you get your Tourist Card. This is where you'll need a clear title or title with letter from any lienholders.
Since you're traveling in States that require this, make sure you get it at the border crossing.
Also, make sure you turn in that Permit at the Guat crossing (Mex side) and keep the proof of return paper they will give you.
It's fairly painless...

reading the requirements to cross from us to mexico... do I really need a birth certificate?, I am from argentina and it will be very painful and long process to get one. Have an argentina passport with a valid 10 year green card for us and that's it. is it enough?
please advise.

Where did you read that a birth certificate is required. I think it is an alternative form of id. I didn't use it in October and I didn't hear of anyone at the Creel meeting needing it to cross.
