Lost my German Export Plate On The Road!!!

I registered and insured my bike in Germany through the middle of September in order to export it to France and register it here at my French address.

They are export plates for a period of three months with insurance from ARISA.

However, on the trip to France, the license plate blew off the bike and is lost! It was an old style wide plate and the wind resistance was most likely involved. I quickly made up a cardboard plate and taped it on.

If I intend to register it in France anyway, is it necessary to obtain another copy of my export number plate from Germany? If so, how do I do this, and can I still obtain the same number?

Use of the bike isn't necessary right now, so it won't be on the road until I sort out French registration anyway...

Could one simply go through the motions in France without having that old plate?

Also, must I register in France before the expiry date of my current export registration? Or can I leave it sitting in France for some time, let the German registration expire, and then register in France? In other words, must the German registration date overlap with the new French?

Thanks in advance everyone.

Sorry, I can't help you with your question, but I feel your pain. I used to have one of these German cookie trays as well and it came off on the way home from the dealer. These plates are completely insane. Rumor has it that there is a new rule and you can get smaller plates soon.

The NZ plate is super tiny in comparison.
