Licensing in Foreign Countries

I am currently on a trip through Latin America for the next few years. I took a riding lesson and loved it - does anyone have any suggestions about the best way or countries to get a local motorcycling license in? I want all the money and time that I am putting into learning to count towards getting a license once I am back home in Canada (i.e. transferring from one license to another).

Is this possible??

Welcome and well done for realising how good it is to ride. :thumbup1:

Why don't you look at the website of the Canadian vehicle licensing people (or get somebody to do it for you) and see which countires they will exchange licences for? For example, here in the UK, if you have an Oz, NZ, Hong Kong licence, you can generally get a GB licence without a retest. Think you still have to pay an admin fee but that's all. Canada probably has a similar system.

You probably also know that you can have an international driving licence which allows you to ride legally but that only lasts for 12 months and is different for some countries. Again check it out with your home licensing authority because ultimately, that's where your base qualification needs to be.

Good luck. :mchappy:
