Letters of Introduction

Sorry for posting what may be a stupid question. Can anyone point me to the content, form and where to get letters of introduction, which by reading a number of threads here are required for a number of countries. Also, is there an easy way to search which Asian/Mid East/Emerging Europe (ex soviet) countries require LOI's. For the record I am an Australian Citizen/Resident. I have attempted emailing the Cambodian and Myanmar (Burmese) embassies, but have had nil response to any queries. Malayis/Singapore/Thailand/Indonesia and East Timor all seem pretty easy - require standard visas etc.

Bill,

I am in Turkey at the moment and had to get a LOI for my Indian visa. It was a simple matter of going to the Australian consulate and forking over $34. I don't need LOI's for Pakistan or Iran. It all seems a bit hit and miss to me - sometimes you need one and, depending on Who beat Who in cricket, at other times they will tell you you need one. The only way to find out is to front up for a visa I think. Other guys I have met on the road needed LOI's for Iran, but they weren't Aussies.

Kenny
