letter of introduction
 

I read somewhere that some countries require a letter of introduction.Anyone know what this is, do I really need it, and if so, where can I get one?

You may want to try the Home*Foreign & Commonwealth Office website or the webpage for the UK-based embassies of the countries you want to visit.

Some countries want a visa for all foreign nationals (i.e. Uzbek) others for double entry visits (i.e. Kazak).

All they are is another way for the country to fleece the traveller for yet another tax o top of the visa before entering their country.

... and the British Emabassys like to charge up to £50.00 for one....Expensive if you add on the visa charge in first place
