Iran w/o Carnet - possible!

Hello all,

entered Iran without the Carnet. Well, it's a "local alternative" for it. Costed 250USD for us to issue it with the help of one Turkish guy in Dogubeyazit and ... NO DAMNED DEPOSIT! (Note issing the official Carnet is 265USD plus this outrageous 3000EURos of deposit) without his help i think it'd be almost impossible - some special contacts in Iran and some Iran's company guarantee there is needed for document, but the guys organized all - just sit and wait for about 3-5 hours on the border, give few signatures and "Well come to Iran" greets you . If anyone wants his contacts - e-mail me!

Cheers, Margus

What i've HEARD from Travellers the Pakistan is absolutely impossible withouth the "real" Carnet de Passage, at least coming from Iran.

But as people say also Iran is impossible without it but still it's possible, so i can't say anything conclusive. Though, better not to try it without the Carnet i think if youre already going so far...

Cheers, Margus

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
