Iran Visa in Istanbul - May 2011

Just for info - successfully got my Iranian visa (30 day tourist visa valid for 3 months from issue) from the Iranian consulate in Istanbul on Tuesday. I arranged my authorisation code through Touran Zamin, who were very helpful. Cost was 100 Euros, visa available next day after application. The chap issuing the visas speaks excellent English and used to serve at the London consulate. Fee is paid to the bank directly opposite the consular section door, in Euro cash. Was able to use the form from the London Consulate (I already had it filled in, but ran out of time to go to London before leaving on the trip).

There were issues the previous Wednesday when I tried to apply but was told the consulate had not received my authorisation code from Tehran, but Touran Zamin were able to arrange a new code to be issued without further charge, in time to re-apply the following Monday.

Hi, I was wondering if you need a carnet going into Iran. Where are you comjing from? Our Auto Assn in South Africa doesn't endorse carnets for Iran, but does for other countries needing one. Based on that, after Cairo, we are looking at flying us and our bikes from Istanbul to Katmandu, ride around there and India, and then fly us and the bikes to Bangkok. What are your plans after Iran?

Good luck.

HI Djadams,

Good to hear you got your visa "easily" issued in Istanbul. I am planning a Paris-Singapore trip in 2012 and was wondering where would be best to apply for the iranian visa. Looks like Istanbul is a good place to get it, along with asking to Touran Zamin. I will contact them but just wondering if you'd know if other nationalities than UK could get problem getting their visa there? Touran Zamin will certainly answer this but I would like to double-check.
One last question: do you plan to cross Pakistan? If yes, where did/will you get your visa?
Thanks,
Seb.

Work with Touran Zamin. I'm sat here by Dan and can reply on his behalf that we didn't research any other nationalities but if you're British then Istanbul is a good bet. We aren't going to Pakistan either, just north towards Siberia.

Hi HUers,

Agree with the above, just picked up our Iranian visas in Istanbul with the minimum of fuss. We got our code via STANtours for pickup in Istanbul, arrived there about 25 days later and got the visa in two days, piece of cake.

Visa for India is in progress, so now just trying to figure out how to get a visa for Pakistan, if anyone has any ideas I'd be happy to hear them.

All fun and games.
