Iran Visa

Does anyone know if it is possible to apply for an Iranian visa in another country than the one of your residence? We are thinking about applying in either Bangkok, Kathmandu or New Delhi. Anyone who has had any experience with this?

Yes you can!

When you apply for the authorisation code just state which embassy you will be applying for the visa in.

If you decided to change this, you will have to pay another fee to transfer that code to the new embassy.

I applied for my visa in Islamabad, Pakistan and got the visa in two days - if your in a rush you can get it in one - remember girls, you have to have a passport photo with a head scarf on.

Authorisation Code?

Thanks for your quick reply!
Can you please explain the deal with an 'authorisation code'?

You register with an online visa agency (eg iranianvisa.com, takes several weeks and numerous chasing emails), pay the fee and hopefully you'll get an authorisation code. You stipulate at which consulate you will get your visa (I got mine in Quetta).

Of course there is no guarantee you'll get a code and whether it was worth it I can't say, as there was no space to put the authorisation code on the visa application form in the consulate and the guy never even asked for it, so when I asked him about it, he told me to write it at the top of the form...I got the visa the next day no probs though.

Allow 6 weeks to get the code - that code then is only valid for one month at your chosen embassy.

The embassy in Islamabad, just asked me if I had a code, then he checked through his big book of them and found mine.

I would only use companies who say you can pay after getting the code, i think one company says, pay when you arrive in Iran - just watch out for hoax companies... i met a girl who paided for hers and it wasnt at the embassy... if this happens your then stuck waiting another 3-6 weeks.

The code will take longer if you apply around holiday periods!

Best of Luck
Iran is a really nice country and the people are super kind!

Thanks!

Thank you for the replies. A little bit wiser now. On that subject anyway.

As Danielle said,

I used iranianvisa.com but I had to call them several times and also my contact person in Tehran had to call them frequently. But if you have the code there are no problems at all. I applied also at the embassy in Ankara and I didn't need anything. They needed only €50 and they gave it to me in two days.
