Insurance in Africa.
 

Hello fellow bikers!

Im a Swede (not the vegetable .. :) ). Im heading down to Africa - Tunisia, Libya, Egypt - and have a question regarding insurance. The insurance you can get at the border does that cover theft etc. or just traffic?
Or is there and international insurance that you can get ??

Dear Markus Naslund,

The insurance at the border is typically for third party insurance, i.e. it's not meant to cover you against theft. I don't know of any insurance carriers that would offer international insurance (or at least at a reasonable rate). Most people I have met on the road in Africa are riding without theft insurance.
